Life in the city can be difficult for Indigenous youth and young adults to navigate. Young people need a supportive environment to learn, to know how to assess safety and engage in healthy community. Low self-esteem or previous trauma can make this more difficult. Enhance is an eight week program that seeks to support young adults as they work through these challenges.

For many Indigenous youth, living away from their home communities in Thunder Bay can be a challenging experience. NorthWind is honoured to partner with Indigenous nations, tribal councils, and communities to help support their youth while they are in Thunder Bay.

In collaboration with our growing circle of partners, NorthWind is committed to developing a thriving ecosystem of programs and supports for Indigenous youth and young adults both in Thunder Bay and in their home communities.

One part of the ecosystem is called Enhance, which is designed to welcome and support youth who come to Thunder Bay for high school. It is an 8-week program designed to include land-based weekend retreats, opportunities for volunteer experience and mentorship, and LifeBuild workshops. For youth from northern communities who are attending high school in Thunder Bay, Enhance offers an environment of safety, support, connection, and growth.

Other programs and supports are in development as we expand our network of partnerships. Enhance is currently welcoming partnerships with new communities. If you are interested in NorthWind’s youth programming for youth from your community, or would like further information, please contact us at youth@northwindfm.org
